Contest Rounds
Taurussy SingTop is the flagship, nationwide in-app singing contest from Taurussy.
It’s a premium offering designed to discover and celebrate India’s best singing talent,
and it runs entirely inside the Taurussy app — built specifically for this purpose.
Unlike traditional talent showcase platforms, SingTop follows unique workflows with industry-first evaluation strategies.
Anyone, anywhere in the world can take part, as long as they sing in one of the Indian languages.
The contest is open to singers of every level — from beginners to established professionals.
The SingTop contest is designed as a unique audition pipeline presented in the form of a structured competition, where contestants perform original songs composed exclusively for each season.
Throughout the contest, contestants move through a complete, guided workflow, and based on their overall performance and ratings, the top 10 rated singers are ultimately selected as the final voices for the official public release of these songs.
The entire contest operates within a contestant-only social singing environment, where every performance is evaluated using a clearly defined, metric-driven judging framework to ensure fairness and consistency.
Expected Key Timelines
App Release and Registration Opens: January 1, 2027, through the Taurussy app.
SingTop Season 1 begins: July 19, 2027 and will follow a year-long seasonal cycle.

Evaluation Process
SingTop has two rounds — Cover Sing and Creative Sing wherein you will sing new, unreleased songs specifically made for the contest.
- Cover Sing Round tests your singing skill against composer-guided original cover version performed by track singers to test if you are able to reproduce it as-is.
- Creative Sing Round tests your creative intellect and playback singing ability with only the instrumental melody without any vocal guidance .
For season 1, the cover sing round songs are composed by Bharani, Indian Music Composer
For season 1, the cover sing round songs are composed by Dennis Vallaban, Indian Music Composer
The songs will span 10 different feel-based categories, as follows:
-
Title/Intro / Signature Songs
(Iconic opening pieces, theme/intro songs, identity-defining numbers) -
Love – Happy / Celebration
(Romantic, joyful, playful love songs — evergreen in all languages) -
Love – Sad / Heartbreak
(Breakup, longing, emotional romance) -
Family & Friendship (Non-Romantic Bonds)
(Parent–child, friendship, brotherhood/sisterhood, social bonds) -
Nature / Beauty / Lifestyle
(Songs celebrating seasons, places, beauty, festivals, everyday joys) -
Philosophical / Life Reflections
(Existential, moral, social message, deep meaning songs) -
Motivational / Patriotic / Inspirational
(Self-belief, nation, success, dreams — unifying type) -
Devotional / Spiritual / Peace
(God, devotion, prayer, inner calm — widely relatable) -
Dance / Folk / Kuthu / Gaana
(High energy folk/dance tracks, party vibes, kuthu, dappankuthu, gaana) -
Children & Fun (Lullaby / Playful / Kids’ world)
(Lullabies, light playful songs, child-oriented melodies)
The song lyrics will be available in both the respective native language (Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada) and English.
Cover Sing Round
- You will sing 10 songs across different feel-based categories, with only one song option per category.
- These 10 categories are split into 5 solo and 5 duet groups.
-
For each song, you’ll receive two audio tracks:
- A karaoke track (no voice) to sing along, and
- The composer-guided original cover version performed by a track singer for vocal guidance.
- Use the original cover version to learn the song and create your cover rendition.
- For duets, you’ll collaborate with fellow contestants—similar to duet singing workflows in popular social singing karaoke apps.
-
Duet rule for invites/joins:
To join someone else’s duet invite in a category, you must have created a duet invite in that same category. For your duet submission, you may submit either:
- The best completed join from others on your duet invite, or
- Your best join on someone else’s duet invite.
Creative Sing Round
- This round has solo songs only. You’ll sing 5 songs which will fall under any 5 of the feel-based categories, with only one song option per category.
-
For each song, you’ll receive two audio tracks:
- A karaoke track (no voice) to sing along, and
- The same track with an instrumental melody in place of vocals.
-
Use the instrumental melody to learn the tune and create your own vocal rendition — just like a real
playback recording session
The guide melody is plain (no oscillations / ornaments), giving no hints about finer nuances.
- It should be your own thought process for the timing of lyrical words in every lyrical line and add all sorts of singing elements such as kamakas, brighas, nuances, expressions and emoting etc. — showcasing your creative interpretation
- We evaluate true playback singing ability and original interpretation in this round.

Judging Metrics
The evaluation happens in two stages: moderation and judge’s scoring.
- Moderation is carried out by Taurussy owned musicians, known as Moderators.
-
Every entry first goes to the moderators. They check if the performance does minimum justice to the song.
- If it passes, the entry is sent to the judges for scoring.
- If it does not pass, the moderators themselves will score that entry.
- Judges evaluate and give marks only to the entries that clear moderation.
- All scores from every performance are combined into a single overall rating called the SingTop Rating in the SingTop contest.
- The entire process is transparent, and results are instantly shared with contestants.

How It Works
Every performance is scored against the Judging Metrics on a 4-point scale:
1
Not Good
Performance did not meet expectations.
2
Needs Improvement
Some elements need work to reach a good level.
3
Good
Solid performance with minor issues.
4
Excellent
Outstanding — best-in-class performance.
Each performance is rated across 10 different judging metrics. The sum of these scores against all judging metrics becomes the final performance mark (X out of 40).
Scoring Method
Marks = (Sum of scores across all judging metrics by each judge) ÷ (Number of Judges)
→ Result is X out of 40
→ Result is X out of 40
Key Definitions
-
⚖️ Number of Judges → Based upon the season, may change from time to time
-
⭐ Score for each metric → 1 to 4
-
📊 Sum of Scores → Total of all 10 metric scores
Maximum Marks per Performance
Cover Sing / Creative Sing → Max 40 marks (all from only either judges or moderators)
SingTop Rating
- Each contestant performs 15 songs in total:
- The contestant’s SingTop Rating = [(Total marks scored ÷ 600) × 10]
- Contestants who do not complete all 15 performances will not receive SingTop Rating and will be marked as Incomplete.
- The SingTop Rating is used to select the Top 10 singers i.e., SingToppers.
