Before the Internet, only a small fraction of people in India seriously pursued singing as a profession, even though an estimated 2% of the population had singing ability. Very few even explored singing as a hobby.
The first major breakthrough came with reality TV singing shows — a new format designed to identify fresh talent for the music industry. These shows created a gateway for artists without any industry background to get noticed and potentially begin their careers.
With the rise of social media, the landscape shifted. People began showcasing their singing to entertain friends, build fan bases, and gain visibility. Social media gave a significant boost to Indian singers — not only for those pursuing a career, but also for those who simply wanted their talent to be recognized. For many, recognition itself became the primary reward, often more important than monetary gain.

Name Meaning of Taurussy
The name Taurussy comes from the word “Taurus”, which is a well-known zodiac sign.
In astrology, Taurus rules the second house, which governs the throat. Since singing comes from the throat, people born with a strong Taurus influence are often naturally inclined to sing — they enjoy it and usually have the ability to sing well.
Taurussy is the adjective form of Taurus, meaning “having the qualities of Taurus,” which in this case refers to singing ability. That is why the app is named Taurussy — an app for people with the gift of singing.
In Tamil, the zodiac sign Taurus is called Rishabham. Its adjective form Rishabha also refers to the second note in the traditional Indian seven-note musical scale (Saptaswaras) in Sanskrit.
